It's Almost NaMoPaiMo Time!

Posted by Eleda Towle on

It's that time when model horse lovers start getting excited and imagining beautiful horses!  That's right, NaMoPaiMo is coming up soon!  The third annual event, started by Jennifer Buxton of Braymere Custom Saddlery, invites everyone to grab a model and start painting.  Short for National Model Painting Month, February has been designated NaMoPaiMo and thousands of horse lovers around the world join in to make sad little models beautiful again.

All you need is a model, some paint and your imagination.  Whether you're a first-time painter or a professional customizer, it's a fun month of camaraderie, sharing tips and photos, and encouraging each other.  Last year, one of our customers from Norway painted this pretty little rabicano Arabian:

The only rules are:  You cannot start painting your NaMoPaiMo model until February 1st and it must be finished by February 29th.  You are welcome to join the Facebook Group and share photos, if you like:

and there's a completely optional, voluntary participation fee of $2 for a chance at prizes that helps Jennifer maintain the group and pay postage to mail out prizes.  If you'd like to do that, here's a link to her blog post with rules and info (It's from  2019, as her new version isn't up yet at the time I wrote this, but everything should be the same):

You can paint in any style you like, with any brand of model.

If you're in need of a model to paint, check out our Body Box, where models wait for their chance to become pretty again!

NaMoPaiMo is as much fun to do as it is to say.  We can't wait to see what you create!
