Five Gaiter ~ Commander, Sorrel - FACTORY OOPSIE/ESCAPEE?
Chris Hess's iconic Five Gaiter mold was made in this bold sorrel from 1963 to 1986. He features a sorrel coat and a mane and tail so dark, he's nearly a bay. He wears an airbrushed bald face, four socks, and red-on-white ribbons.
This fellow is in a neat guy who appears to have escaped the factory before hoof paint was added. His lower legs and hooves are unpainted bright white. He's hard to rate because of his partially painted status, but his right side is lovely, with just a tiny black mark on his barrel and tiny eartip rubs. His left side, though, has a group of tiny black marks on his hindquarter and some more on his left barrel, as well as some tiny and pinpoint black specks in his socks. Despite his black marks, he's really a beautiful guy, with highlights all the way to white, very carefully painted ribbons with the ribbon end intact, muzzle pinking, and eye whites. He has no USA mold mark.
