This neat guy is a known variation on the very old and short-production Davy Crockett set.  Originally he came with Davy and a snap-cinch saddle.  Most are molded in black plastic with a blaze and four socks painted on.  Some, like this fellow, were actually made in dark brown plastic!  He was only made in 1955-1956, making him very hard to find in any condition!

This fellow is in Very Good condition, marked down primarily for a 1" seam split at the base of his tail, sadly not uncommon for this mold.  He has some finish issues that look like a clearcoat has been peeled off in tiny areas, some pinpoint white specks and scratches.  He also has a rub down the side of his left hind sock.  He is the rare dark brown plastic version… He looks black in most lighting, but taken out in the sunshine, he is unmistakably dark brown.  He wears a broad blaze, the gold on his tack is almost perfectly intact, and he even still has his original reins.  Because he's such a hard-to-find variation, he's well worth having even with his little seam split.  He was genuinely from the Davy Crockett set, as Eleda purchased him to use the saddle and rider to complete her Davy Crockett mantle clock, which was missing those.
