This pretty pony is modern Chinese cloisonne. Cloisonne pieces are made of metal (usually brass or copper) with thin wires welded on to create designs. Enamel is then hand-painted into each segmented space, then the whole thing is fired in a kiln and then polished. Gold paint (sometimes real gold leaf) is often added for bright, metallic accents. The result is a beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-colored figurine.
He is in Excellent condition with a bent-forward right hind foot, but he still stands well. The enamel behind that fetlock has fallen off because of the bend, and there's also a small area of enamel missing on top of his tail, along with a couple of chips in the gold on his hooves. They actually create a way to view how the piece was created, as you can see the metal wires more clearly where the enamel has gone missing. His body is clean and colorful. He is a beautiful dark cobalt blue color, which is highly desirable, and features pretty color blending in his floral design.
