Breyer led off the Ideal Series with a portrait of an ideal Quarter Horse based on the art of Orren Mixer, Jr. Orren was a lifelong horseman and artist with a passion for stock breeds, particularly American Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas. He was famous for his paintings of ideal animals for each breed which were used by seven breed organizations to represent their breed's ideal conformation. His ideal Quarter Horse painting was commissioned by the AQHA in 1968 and is still used to represent their ideal horse. He was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1993. He also did many specific portraits of famous stallions and scenes of horse life in the American West. We're delighted that Breyer is honoring Orren with this kick-off to the new Ideal Series.

Breyer's "3D version" of Orren's ideal QH stands proud but relaxed, with a chestnut coat, two hind socks and a star. The box includes the image it was created from, along with a photo of Mr. Mixer. He was a single-year release in 2020.
