The handsome Ofir was a well-known Arabian stallion born and bred in Poland prior to the Second World War. He is best known today as the sire of Witez II, on whom Chris Hess based the iconic Breyer Proud Arabian Stallion mold. During the war, Ofir was taken by the Russians to their Tersk stud, where he sired one of Russia's most famous Arabian mares, Mammona. (His son, Witez II was brought to America about the same time.)
[Ofir, source unknown]
Breyer's portrait model is on the Black Stallion mold, and was only available at Breyer Tour Stops in 1994. He is a plum bay with four socks, a star and snip. Only 2350 were made.
This fellow is still attached in his original box.
