G1 Draft Horse, Golden Bay / Buckskin - Sears SR VARIATION
The beloved Stablemate Draft Horse, sculpted originally by Maureen Love for Hagen-Renaker, was part of the Sears Wishbook Stablemate Assortment in 1991. Interestingly, he came in different colors that year... A red bay and a sooty grulla are both shown on IDYB. This fellow apparently represents a third option - a golden bay or buckskin. He doesn't match the other known buckskin releases, which are all significantly lighter in color, and he was documented by a reputable collector as having come from the 1991 set. The question becomes: Were a batch made in this color, or is he a one-of-a-kind?
This fellow is in Excellent condition with a tiny rub on his right ear and left nostril. He also has some small factory flaws: a black speck of eye paint on his left chest and a couple of pinpoint places that didn't get painted, typical for SMs of this era. A bent left eartip will be easily fixed with a warm hair dryer. All of these things are very tiny, and with a bit of touch up paint, you'll have a handsome boy and superb variation! He features shading around his eyes and on his muzzle.
