Breezing Dixie is the portrait of the Champion Appaloosa mare foaled in 1980, and was one of the earliest Breyer Appaloosas to feature a masked-edge blanket and masked spots. She is a dark bay with solid legs, grey hooves, and a little star. She was Breyer's Limited Edition for 1988. The first models made were given hand-painted grey hooves; before long, Breyer changed to airbrushed black hooves instead, making these early pieces a sough-after variation.
[Tiny image of Breezing Dixie - from Breyer box]
This girl is Near Mint with one tiny hoof edge rub, a pinpoint unpainted spot on her chest, and a hairline unpainted line along her right front hoof and chest seams. She features slightly misaligned blanket masking which gives her the look of vintage mapping, along with blended shading and neatly painted eyes. She has been in Eleda's personal collection since new, and won an Overall Reserve Championship in the six show series held by BMHA in 1989, the first year I attended model horse shows. She will come with a collection card for provenance.
[Final photo was taken in 1990, showing her with the awards she won. Awards are not included, because I'm not sure where they are.]
