Sir Rugger, known around the barn as Checkers, is a champion QH Gelding best known for winning National Champion titles in Mountain Trail in 2008, 2009, and 2010 - Without wearing a bridle! His registered name is Sir Rugged Chex, and you might recognize his grandsire as well: The always impressive Rugged Lark.
Breyer's portrait model of the intelligent and talented Checkers shows off his agility and his leaf-shaped star. He was released at midyear 2020 and retired in 2022.
Checkers was introduced as a guest horse at Virtual Breyerfest 2020, with a fabulously long video of him demonstrating his skills at cowboy trail, including walking over a suspended bridge, a rolling bridge and a teeter totter.
