San Domingo ~ General Lee's Traveller
The favorite mount of General Lee during the Civil War, Traveller became famous not only for his gorgeous coloring (he was said to be "Confederate Grey" with a black mane and tail), but also for his forward action, courage and stamina. Traveller was an American Saddlebred originally named Greenbrier and renamed Traveller (with two Ls) by General Lee.
Breyer produced a portrait model of Traveller on San Domingo for a QVC Special Run in 2002. These are extraordinarily hard to find and much sought-after by collectors, so if you like him, don't wait! He won't be here long!
This fellow is Near Mint with only a light rub on his barrel (just through the light grey shading) and a faint mark inside the rub. This was probably from the factory strap around his body that Breyer sometimes held them in the box with. He got wows from everyone in the room when we opened him, and no one noticed the rub until we did our close inspection. He features painted whites, muzzle and inner ear shading and such a faintly grey-shaded coat that he looks almost pure white.
