Silky Sullivan, Grey - Sears SR (Hard To Find)
The Maureen Love Silky Sullivan, originally created for Hagen-Renaker, was licensed by Breyer in 1976. He wore this warm grey color for the Sears holiday catalog in 1992. Only 4500 were made. A JC Penney release in 1994 wore a nearly identical color, but the two can be differentiated by quality of finish: This Sears release has a famously bumpy finish... It appears their paint had bubbles in it when applied, resulting in a bumpy texture. With handling (even riding in their shipping boxes) some of the bubbles inevitably sheered off, leaving the models looking freckled. It's a good bet that many were customized when they were purchased because of this finish... Few come up for sale now, making those that do become available worth more than their initial owners would have imagined!
This fellow is in Very Good condition with no breaks or chips. He does have quite a few small and tiny rubs, most of them a result of that factory finish mentioned above. He's a bargain to become your first model on this release or to be customized. he features a beautifully shaded face and legs.
