Collectors used to seeing matching family sets were puzzled when Breyer released a Stock Horse Stallion in black pinto, but released the mare and foal in bay pinto. This was remedied when JC Penney offered the "missing" mare and foal as a Special Run set for the holidays in 1984-1985. They are almost impossible to find nowadays.
This sweet mare is Near Mint with only hoof edge rubs and possibly touched-up eartips (they're a bit shinier than her body). She also has mild yellowing which you should be able to correct just by letting her sunbathe for a couple of days. She has all the usual overspray and specks in her plastic that are expected from this era, but is a lovely example of this release, with neat markings and muzzle pinking.
Her colt is also Near Mint with only two tiny hoof edge rubs and very slight yellowing marking him down! Sunbathe him for a couple of days and he'll look like new. He's a neat fellow, with a very matte finish in his black areas.
