Chris Hess sculpted the Tennessee Walking Horse mold that was originally released as a portrait of this famous stallion. Even though Breyer's sculpt depicts him with a "Big Lick" stride, that is a trend that didn't develop until after his time, and Midnight Sun was actually shown in standard keg shoes. The portrait model was made from 1972-1987.
This fellow is Near Mint with a few pinpoint rubs on his right hindquarter and a couple of tiny hoof rubs. He features brown feet and airbrushed red on his ribbons with hand-painted white loops over it, as seen by the red overspray around the ribbon ends. He even stands on his own, unlike most of his brothers, but we still strongly suggest Museum Putty or a Horse Safety Rack to keep him safely upright.
