This pretty pony is modern Chinese cloisonne. Cloisonne pieces are made of metal (usually brass or copper) with thin wires welded on to create designs. Enamel is then hand-painted into each segmented space, then the whole thing is fired in a kiln and then polished. Gold paint (sometimes real gold leaf) is often added for bright, metallic accents. The result is a beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-colored figurine.
This colorful fellow shows slight aging, with a bit of green patina forming around the hole in the bottom of his tail, and one missed spot in the enamel under his chest. He features a swish-tail and open mouth, with a floral design and rope-style wires that add even more sparkle. He may have gold leaf hooves and ears.
