The most famous Chincoteague Pony ever was, of course, Misty.  The epic tale Marguerite Henry wrote describing the wild herd and mysterious, un-catchable mare she was born to was an award-winning book read by every horse-loving kid.  Misty also starred in her own movie, went on tour with her filly Stormy, and performed at shows on Chincoteague to the delight of visitors from around the globe.  She pretty much put Chincoteague on the map, and now the tiny island hosts tens of thousands of tourists every year for Pony Penning Week.

Misty's portrait model has been produced annually since 1972 and has seen a lot of variations through the years, making it possible to collect an entire conga of this sweet pony with no two being alike.

This little mare is Near Mint and I think a bath will bring her back to Factory Mint.  She has a couple of black specks on the back of her left hind cannon and a few specks of overspray elsewhere.  She is  a fairly recent one with modern shading.  She is one of the darkest Mistys I've seen, and I've seen a lot of Mistys!  She's a pretty recent girl, and is cocoa brown instead of bright palomino.  She also features extensive muzzle pinking.  What a cutie.
