Trakehner ~ Calypso - USET SR

Calypso was an amazing jumping horse and partner to Melanie Smith Taylor, his owner and rider through his career.  Best known for their Gold Medal performance at the 1984 Olympics, Melanie says that "Lyps" was always a horse she could count on when they needed a clean round.  He was small by jumper standards, but determined, quick, careful, and always kept his head.  After becoming the first horse to win the old "Triple Crown" of show jumping, he eventually retired at Taylor's farm and had a happy retirement there.

Breyer's tribute to Calypso was a Special Run made for the US Equestrian Team Festival in 1996.  Only 1000 were made.

This fellow is still attached in his original box which says "1996 USET Festival Calypso" on the label.  It's nearly impossible to find one in his box these days!
