Foundation Appaloosa stallion Chief of Fourmile was a star wherever he went. He was the first three-time Appaloosa National Performance Horse Champion. Born in 1952, he carried the original Appy genes for color and for the sparse tail they used to be known for. As a result, Breyer's tribute model to Chief represents his build very well! The Washington-bred Appy was black with a white blanket, and showed in Western performance classes. The photo here shows him in Native American costume. He sired over a hundred foals and can be found in the pedigrees of many modern Appies.

Breyer's portrait model was the 1999 Commemorative Edition, limited to that year's production. Only 10,000 were made and they were hand-numbered under their bellies. A lapel pin of Chief was also made and attached to the box.
This fellow is rated as Very Good condition and a superb restoration candidate! No rubs were seen - He is marked down for strong age yellowing, which you can easily lighten up (it should come almost to pure white again!) with some time spent sunbathing. He features a speckly roan coat all the way to his hooves, and even comes with both his original hang tag and the sticker from his box. He is also the low serial number 590/10,000.
