This beautiful set includes an Appaloosa Indian Pony, Leotie rider, her papoose snuggled into a cradleboard, and incredibly detailed clothing and tack, as a Deluxe Collectors Set.  Leotie means "Flower of the Prairie," and while was not meant to replicate any particular tribe, this is a very nice representation of Native culture and ritual garb made at a 1:9 scale.

The horse is a chestnut Appaloosa on the Indian Pony mold, and is outfitted in what we consider the very best tack set Breyer has ever put out!  Thin suede (or a really good facsimile of it!) is hand-laced on the saddle, and adorned with printed and actual beadwork, as is the bridle, cradleboard and Leotie's dress.  This was one of Breyer's Limited Edition display sets, and was only available in 2008.

To show you what a great job Breyer did, here is a photo of Jenny Anderson, who showed her horse Buckshot Britches in the 1960s in Native Costume.  While Bucky wasn't thrilled with the ribbon pinned to his bridle in this photo, it shows her outfit well.  She hand-made and hand-beaded her buckskin dress and hat (along with Bucky's tack!) according to research she did on Plains cultures.  Eleda now has her dress, and the bead colors and patterns are so close to Leotie's that it's uncanny, right down to the turquoise beads attached to the skirt fringe.  Although it doesn't show in this photo, Jenny even had a doll papoose in a cradleboard attached to Bucky's saddle... It's almost as if Breyer used her as their model!

We can't see a lot of this girl with her tack on, but based on what we can see, and the collection she comes from, we confidently call her Near Mint, with tiny eartip rubs and one tiny box rub on her right gaskin.  She still wears the clear plastic shield between horse and saddle, and arrived here with the clear plastic shield and elastic strap over the saddle and around her belly, but the elastic had disintegrated with age, so we've removed that.  She features bright whites and beautiful masking.  Her tack appears Factory Mint and not even dusty - I believe they were displayed in a glass case, because it's just like new.

Leotie is also Factory Mint with her beautifully decorated and beaded outfit and tons of "buckskin" fringe.  This set is absolutely stunning - a Breyer masterpiece.  Please note, since parts of it are still factory attached, her tack will be left on for the ride to you, but everything will be carefully wrapped for a safe journey.  She even comes with her original COA, still in its plastic sleeve.
