Ruffian is one of the most famous racing mares of all time. She won ten consecutive races as a two- and three-year-old. Her stellar career was sadly cut short by a fatal injury during a match race with Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure, and efforts to save her were unsuccessful. She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and has been immortalized with a movie and this lovely sculpt by Maureen Love.
This is a magnificent 1:6 scale porcelain sculpture of Ruffian, created by the renowned Kitty Cantrell, painted by Caroline Boydston, and produced in a limited edition of 2500 by Starlite Creations in 2006. This elegant and realistic portrait of Ruffian features subtle face shading and a high gloss glaze. These are not only gorgeous, they are highly sought after and almost never come up for sale. This may be your only chance to get her!
She is Factory Mint with beautiful detailing. She arrived in her original packaging, including foam around her base and brown tissue paper separating her from the Styrofoam insert. She is from the collection of Linda Dean.
Because of her boxed size, weight and fragile nature, we strongly recommend ordering her by herself, as she could easily crush other models shipped with her. If you order them together, we'll ship them together, but at your own risk, so please consider ordering her by herself. She will be shipped packed in her original box, which will then be wrapped and insulated with packing peanuts inside a shipping box for utmost safety.
