1998 was an exciting year for Breyer collectors, as it came with this introduction of a whole new set of twelve Stablemate molds - the first new ones since the scale was introduced in 1975. Only 5000 sets were made, available only to "Just About Horses" magazine subscribers, and each set was numbered. That set marked the debut of the Thoroughbred mold, and he wore a beautiful, shaded grey coat for his first release.
He is Factory Mint with a pinpoint white speck on his right rump and a tiny factory goober under his neck. He has no clearcoat over the grey, so his finish is quite fragile. He features painted whites and a shaded face.
