First 2019 Breyer Mid-Year Release Announced!

News from Breyer this morning! 

We'll post the model for pre-orders after we get photos and specific info from Breyer.  That will probably be sometime in June.  The model will be shown (and sold?) first at Breyerfest, and then dealers will be able to bring it in shortly afterward, from what we understand.  Here's Breyer's press release:

Pequannock, NJ (March 18, 2019) If Vicki Wilson tells you that she can do something with one arm tied behind her back, you’d better believe her, because that’s pretty much how the New Zealand trainer and TV star (Keeping Up With the Kaimanawas) won the first of two Road to the Horse (RTTH) titles: with a dislocated shoulder. Vicki has since become the only woman ever to win the RRTH twice and now, Kentucky, the Quarter Horse colt that, despite her injury, she started and won her first RTTH championship with, is on his own road to becoming a Breyer® horse model.

 
The RTTH is a three-day colt-starting competition that follows top-level trainers as they introduce an untouched three year-old Quarter Horse to accepting a rider, and vie for the distinction of being called colt starting’s world champion.
Was it the big white blaze that drew Vicki to the bay cutting horse colt registered as Boon River Lad? Or was it something special that 6666 Ranch of Guthrie, Texas, had bred into this son of Boon San and grandson of the all-time leading sire of cutting horses, High Brow Cat? Because whatever it was, it clicked between them.
At first it seemed that Kentucky’s cautious personality and Vicki’s dislocated shoulder would put them out of contention before they could start. But in each other’s fragility they also found trust, and Kentucky carried Vicki to first place and into history as the first English rider and New Zealander ever to win the Road to the Horse.

 
Vicki credits that victory to giving Kentucky a strong foundation over those first three days, and earning the young horse’s trust. If Kentucky was ambivalent of a new obstacle, she’d dismount and they walked it together. By a second try under saddle, she had his confidence, and that bond was obvious as they performed a final freestyle routine that included jumping bareback.
For Vicki and Kentucky, the greatest reward wasn’t in winning the RTTH but in staying together afterwards. Like many prior RTTH winners, she purchased Kentucky after the competition and brought him home to New Zealand, where Vicki and her sisters, Kelly and Amanda, continue to tame wild horses and advocate for America’s Mustangs, Australia’s Brumbies, and New Zealand’s Kaimanawas.  And right by Vicki’s side is Kentucky, where he helps to introduce new horses and colts
to the stable, and performs with her at clinics and demonstrations.
