The Proud Arabian Mare Gift Set was a special set only produced for two years in 1972 & 1973. The set included the mare and a hand-braided Arabian-type halter with tassels and lead line. She originally came in a cardboard carrying box with an included sheet describing the Arabian horse breed. They are nearly impossible to find these days with their halters, since the halters were easily lost or damaged.
This lovely lady is Excellent to Near Mint with a tiny rub in her mane, a tiny one in her forelock, tiny eartip and muzzle rubs, and a few pinpoint ones here and there. There appears to be a rub inside her left hind coronet, but I think that's an errant dapple. She shows slight age yellowing. She features tons of dapples in a variety of sizes and pretty face shading with hand-painted, unglossed eyes.
She comes with her original halter, which is also in Excellent condition, with its white cotton thread having darkened with age. Its tassels are still bright blue, with a few fuzzy bits of threads, but displays very well. That's amazing. But that's not all! Her owner also sent a color photocopy of the Breyer "History of the Arabian Horse" sheet that was originally included with these sets. It is not the original, but even as a copy, it's something most collectors have never seen. It bears a copyright of "1972 Breyer Molding Co" in the bottom left corner, and will be sent in a plastic sheet protector. What a great find for a PAM collector!
