Standing Thoroughbred ~ Big Lex - GLOSSY CCA Model

Lexington was irrefutably the most famous Thoroughbred of his time.  Born in 1850 and originally named Darley, in his first race, he was one of several that bolted at the starting line and ended up running almost two miles BEFORE the official race started.  He went on to lead the race from end to end.  This was just the beginning of his incredible career.  He was purchased early on and his name changed to Lexington.  After retirement, he sired hundreds of foals, over a third of which went on to be winners... Cementing his place in history. 

He has become the official symbol of the city of Lexington.  An image you'll have certainly seen if you visit Lexington is a version of an Edward Troye portrait, with his color changed to blue by the city to represent the famous bluegrass state.

Celebrating the city's 250th anniversary, Breyer released a model version of the colorized portrait, a deep blue decorator on the Standing Thoroughbred mold.  It carries Lexington's white markings (a star, a large snip, and four airbrushed socks) and was a lovely way to honor the city that is home to BreyerFest!  

This fellow is the special GLOSSY model, only available to Collector Club members during 2 Breyer's Collector Club Appreciation Days in 2026.  They were shipped to members who ordered at least $175 worth of Regular Run models as a Gambler's Choice. 

He sports that gorgeous blue coat, brought out beautifully by his luscious high gloss finish... making him waaay prettier than the matte version!  He is in his sealed box.
