Black Bear and Cub

The Bear and Cub have re-joined the Breyer line as black bears in 2026.  This will be the third time they've worn black coats, but if the promo picture is accurate, this release will have darker, redder snouts than previous releases.

Black bears are agile climbers, strong swimmers, and opportunistic omnivores - eating everything from berries and nuts to fish and small mammals.  In summer, they can gain up to 30 pounds a week to prepare for hibernation.  Each winter, females give birth to tiny cubs in their dens, raising one to five young every two years.  Thanks to conservation efforts, the black bear population is now estimated at 850,000 - a true symbol of the wild.
