This pretty pony is modern Chinese cloisonne. Cloisonne pieces are made of metal (usually brass or copper) with thin wires welded on to create designs. Enamel is then hand-painted into each segmented space, then the whole thing is fired in a kiln and then polished. Gold paint (sometimes real gold leaf) is often added for bright, metallic accents. The result is a beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-colored figurine.
This colorful fellow is He is Near Mint. He features gold dragon scales around a pretty floral design, a wire swish-tail, and upright mane with gold accents.
