Laddie II is a black splash sabino pinto who may or may not have been a real horse sired by Grayingham Lucky Lad ("Laddie"). I have hunted for info about the possibility of Laddie II being a portrait of a real horse, since his detailing suggests he is, but can find no proof online. What we know is that the original Laddie was named Canadian Grand Champion Shire Stallion six times! His work as a sire is no less impressive, and he earned the title Champion Get of Sire from both the American Shire Horse Association and the Canadian Shire Horse Association in 1993. The gentle giant stood 18 hands tall and weighed 2100 pounds. He passed away the year before the Laddie II release came out. (Breyer has precedent naming a horse and adding "II" after their name, as they did with Clue II.)
Laddie II was only produced from 1996-1997. Models shipped to retailers in the first 3 months of 1997 had hand-painted brown eyes ("bi-eyes"). Since this was his second year of production, finding a bi-eyed Laddie isn't easy!
This fellow is Factory Mint with neatly painted bobs and ribbons and soft muzzle and eye area pinking. He is one of the few that were made in early 1997 (his second year of production, so a lot fewer than if it had been his inaugural year) who were given hand-painted bi-color eyes. It appears that they painted his eyes black first, and then simply added a horseshoe of brown to them. He looks a little grumpy about this, but he's a good boy.
