Hackney ~ Giltedge

Arguably the most beautiful release made to-date on Kitty Cantrell's Hackney mold, this lovely Gold Florentine release is named Giltedge.  He was only sold as part of the Horsepower Gift Set, which included a die-cast metal Series B Mack truck made by Corgi, and a COA (Breyer ran out of trucks, so a few were sold with a substitute item instead). The sets represent original Breyer distributions by truck with a replica Breyer delivery truck and a model who looks like he could have been a gilded hood ornament on them!

They were only available to "Just About Horses" subscribers as a Special Run set in 1996.  Only 4500 of Giltedge were produced.  Additionally, the first round of models showed the gold paint bleeding into the white, making the whites look a bit yellowed, even when brand new.  Breyer issued a recall and replaced these models with new ones, presumably using a different paint or finish.  Not everyone turned theirs in to be replaced, though, and occasionally you may find one of the originals, but not very often.

This beauty is Near Mint with his only issues appearing to be from the factory.  No rubs or post-production marks were seen. He has a faint smudge of gold paint on his tail and what appears to be a lot of dust in the finish on the right side of his tail.  He also has a tiny rough spot with a faint dusty appearance on his right hindquarter, but it seems to be under his finish.  The same dusty look appears faintly on his mane braids.  It sounds like a lot, but you almost have to be looking for these things to see them, and in a conga, they would be all but invisible.  He's a neat, large dapple version with lots of gold, bright pinks and whites almost as bright as the day he was born.  He even comes with the original COA from the set.
