The Jumping Horse debuted in 1965 and ran through 1988. This bay was his inaugural color, and it varied over that time with different finishes and socks.
This guy is an amazing find! This is one of those "attic finds" we all dream of. This handsome boy is in Near Mint condition with tiny eartip rubs, tiny rubs where his hind toes rest on the ground, and a couple of pinpoint rubs and a small scratch under his belly from someone "missing" when putting him onto his base, long ago. He has his original base which is also Near Mint, with semigloss grass and matte stones. He came to us with a creased, but complete, blue ribbon sticker and in his Chicago white cardboard shipping box! That's not even all... He wears a vintage sticker from W.T. Grant's Department Store (info in link), which was in Portland, Maine, with a handwritten price of $5.49, which is echoed on the top of his box.
But wait, there's even more: He is an early model with no USA stamp (matching the white box, which was only used until around 1971-1972), and Grant's closed in 1976. More? Yes! He's a two-sock variation with diagonal socks, light grey hooves, and both grey and pink muzzle shading. This guy is special in so many ways!
