Kentucky Derby Trading Cards - Years 1893-1901

Horse Star Cards produced this lovely set of Kentucky Derby winners trading cards in 1991.  Each card includes a picture of the winning horse on the front with his name in a banner, and the reverse side gives well-researched biographical information about the horse.  It also includes his lifetime winnings, his odds at Derby, track conditions, jockey, and more, with a bonus note at the bottom of other things happening that year in history, to help put his year into perspective. 

These are high quality cards, with three distinct style groupings:  The earliest years include sepia or paintings, depending on what was available, with a sepia-tone border; the middle section have black and white photos with a teal border; while newer years have color photos with a pink border.  Together, they make fascinating reading and trace the sport, and its horses, through the years.  

All are in Mint condition, owned by Eleda since new and carefully stored since purchase.
