Ruffian is one of the most famous racing mares of all time.  She won ten consecutive races as a two- and three-year-old.  Her stellar career was sadly cut short by a fatal injury during a match race with Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure, and efforts to save her were unsuccessful.  She was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, and has been immortalized with a movie and this lovely sculpt by Maureen Love.

Ruffian

Breyer's original release of Ruffian was only available from 1977-1990, and shows off her left hind sock and star.

This lady is Excellent condition with tiny rubs on her left shoulder, barrel, and hip, as well as pinpoint eartip rubs, a pinpoint missed spot on her right neck, and a lightly painted area on her tail.  Her right side displays beautifully, with just that pinpoint missed spot.  She features a neatly painted mane and bright white sock.  She is from the collection of Linda Dean.
