Surfer's Riptide is a feral Chincoteague pony stallion, foaled in 2009 (Surfer Dude x Surf Queen). He was a buyback foal at the auction, chosen to be purchased and returned to the wild herd. Recognizable for his deep liver chestnut coat, Riptide has become a favorite for visitors to spot in the wild. His portrait model joined the Breyer line in 2025, with a portion of the proceeds from the model's original sale going to support the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company and the Museum of Chincoteague, both of which work hard to keep the ponies healthy and well on their island home.
Riptide's portrait marks the first Regular Run release for the Galloping Welsh Pony Stallion mold. It's a perfect choice for him, and shows off his gorgeous coloring and markings.
