This pretty pony is modern Chinese cloisonne. Cloisonne pieces are made of metal (usually brass or copper) with thin wires welded on to create designs. Enamel is then hand-painted into each segmented space, then the whole thing is fired in a kiln and then polished. Gold paint (sometimes real gold leaf) is often added for bright, metallic accents. The result is a beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-colored figurine.
This colorful fellow is Near Mint, with just some speckles of patina inside his ears. He appears to have gold plated hooves and wires. He features a dragon-scale design with is generally attached one by one onto the horse by the artist, so he would have taken some time to create. He features a floral motif in vibrant colors, a two-tone blue and white tail, an upright, striped mane with gold accents.
