This pretty pony is modern Chinese cloisonne. Cloisonne pieces are made of metal (usually brass or copper) with thin wires welded on to create designs. Enamel is then hand-painted into each segmented space, then the whole thing is fired in a kiln and then polished. Gold paint (sometimes real gold leaf) is often added for bright, metallic accents. The result is a beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind, hand-colored figurine.
This This fellow is Near Mint with some light paint flaws or wear on his gold hooves and a tiny area of enamel missing above his left eye. He is the most realistically sculpted of all the cloisonne horses I've worked with, with a really pretty face. He features a colorful scrollwork design with enamel made of crushed bits, which gives it the appearance of inlaid stone, and may indicate that he's closer to early-to-mid-20th Century than 21st Century. he even has a moveable golden saddle with a Traditional tasseled saddle. It moves on him slightly, but is shaped around the sides of his barrel, so I didn't try to pull it off (and don't recommend trying to remove it, as it would likely bend). This is a really neat fellow!
