Bareback riding was popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and bareback pads were all the rage. Breyer participated with this bareback pad made of real leather, which was available only in 1979-1980. One of Breyer's earliest and best made pieces of tack, this pad is made of two layers of quality leather with padding in between and white stitching. It includes a leather girth with metal buckle and a handhold strap on the pommel. This is the first one we've ever seen in person after all these years, so they're very hard to come by, particularly with their girth intact!
It is in Near Mint condition. We may never see another in this good a condition, so if you enjoy vintage tack, don't hesitate. Plus, the money goes to the animal shelter!
[Bareback pad only - Horse and stand not included. They're just "modelling."]
This item was donated to our charity account for Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, and proceeds from its sale will help the shelter care for dogs and kitties in need. Thanks for your support!
