This beautiful set includes a golden chestnut Pacer with blue sulky, harness, bridle, and driver's outfit. It was a Special Run, only available through JC Penney from 1981-1983.
This fellow is in Excellent condition with a light scattering of tiny rubs, a few tiny hairline marks, what appears to be a body paint smudge inside his left hind leg, and a narrow gouge in the muscling groove of his chest. He shows mild age yellowing in his socks, and would love to be sunbathed for a few days to brighten back up. He is a handsome fellow despite his issues, with unglossed black eyes, a speckly paint job, and shaded nostrils. He is a B-stamp model.
We are excited to be able to offer this fellow, because his set is nearly complete, and his accessories have been carefully disassembled and tucked away for safety since new. His driver is missing, as is the numbered saddle blanket described on IDYB. However, we have the entire driver's outfit, like new, including: Racing silks top and slacks, matching helmet, black boots, and riding crop. Harness appears never used, as does bridle with driving reins. The sulky came to us with the wheels carefully removed and wrapped, showing it has been well cared-for. Many sulkies have broken through the years, so finding a blue one that's intact is incredible by itself, let alone with the hard-to-find chestnut horse and accessories. The clear plastic of the wheels is starting to yellow a bit from age, as expected, but they have their original bolts and hex nuts. There's even an extra axle bolt, still in its plastic bag, and the set even comes with the quarter-sheet instructions for assembling the sulky and putting on the harness. (The paper has darkened with age and is curled at the bottom from being stored in what appears to be an original part of the packaging. Its scanned image will be added to IDYB as a reference for the set.)
