The Azteca breed is a Mexican horse breed whose bloodlines trace back to Andalusians brought by conquistadors from Spain, with the addition of Quarter Horse and Criollo blood.  They are a compact breed and come in all solid colors, with grey being most common.  (American Aztecas can also come in pinto.)  Registration requires very specific breeding with no more than certain percentages of each of the founding breeds and foals must pass an inspection at seven months of age to become registered.  Breyer's tribute to this uncommon breed was made on the Foundation Stallion mold in dapple grey.  Three versions have been identified:  Dark grey mane with a white tail, light grey mane with a white tail, and light grey mane with a grey tail. He was only made from 1980-1987.

This fellow is the dark grey mane version with a white tail.  He is in Very Good to Excellent condition with a scattering of tiny rubs on his legs, mostly on the front and rear seams, which are a little rough, as was usual for that time.  He also has a couple of tiny rubs on top of his crest.  He shows moderate yellowing, so he'd love to be sunbathed for a week or two to bright back up and show you how lovely he is.  As part of his vintage creation, he has a small smudge of hoof paint on the back of his right forearm and two tiny grey specks of paint at the girthline.  He features a lighter face, really dark charcoal grey mane, and white tail with a bit of grey shading, all under a semigloss finish.
